Psychologists Demand Accountability for Antisemitism Within APA

February 25 2025 By SAJMAP

Person holding a sign that says zero tolerance for antisemitism

In a powerful and urgent open letter, a coalition of over 1,500 psychologists, academics, and mental health professionals has called on the American Psychological Association (APA) to confront what they describe as a systemic and growing problem of antisemitism within its ranks. The letter outlines specific instances of antisemitic rhetoric, ideological bias, and failures of leadership across multiple APA divisions, accusing the organisation of neglecting its own ethical standards.

The letter, addressed to APA President Dr. Kawahara and the Board of Directors, includes detailed demands for reform and accountability. It highlights the disparity between the APA's responses to other forms of discrimination and its perceived inaction on issues affecting Jewish members.
